Lighten up and improve your Laugh – Life!
- Smile more: Smiles help you look younger and make people wonder what you’ve been up to.
- Try to laugh at your problems more: When you laugh at problems and inconsistencies, even though life may be unjust, it puts you in the driver’s seat.
- Keep a funny, 365-page calendar in your kitchen, office or car: Each day tear off that page, leave it where others can see it.
- Use a fun poster, mug, T-shirt, signs or post-it notes that say things like: “Enjoy life, this is not a dress rehearsal.” “Turn around, give a lil smile, throw that match and burn that bridge.” Etc… you can come up with your own.
- Have a collection of toys and share them with your co-workers, friends, and family. (even a stranger) Toys break the ice, inducing playfulness and laughter. Examples may be… teddy bears, slinky, yo-yo, train whistle, bubbles, fart slime, etc… you get the picture.
- DVR a late-night comedy show, or any comedy movie: then later playback bits n pieces of the most hilarious parts for yourself, family and or associates.
- Keep a box of crayons and blank paper handy: Doodle time, or just scribble. Be creative! It relieves stress and anxiety as well.
- Listen to different music. Sing Sing Sing a lot! (who cares who’s listening) Play Christmas music all year round. I myself have a playlist called, “Feel Good Tunes” it includes songs like… Pocketful of Sunshine, I Got a Feeling, Can’t Stop the Feeling, Happy, It’s a Beautiful Day and Smile. You can make your own playlist to suit your taste and what makes you, SMILE.
- Keep a journal of humor: write down humorous things your kids have said, (We all know how kids can keep us in stitches) LOL moments you’ve witnessed or heard and refer back to it from time to time to exercise those laugh lines. You can also find a whole section of humor in your local bookstore or library. Keep a book or two within reach.
- Compose a joke, or write one down you’ve heard and then share them! Knock Knock! Who’s there? Voodoo. Voodoo Who? Voodoo you think you are trying to make me laugh?
- Have at least one game you can play. Cards, board games, puzzles, word games, etc… while stimulating the brain it reduces stress and causes tons of happy endorphins to escape while watching others enjoy the game too.
- Spend @ least a half an hour in the greeting card aisle once a week, just reading greeting cards. Inevitably without question, YOU WILL SMILE.
- Try to laugh at yourself & see the funny side of a situation, like when you: lean over to turn the bathtub faucet on and get doused by the shower. Or when you’ve set your food to-go box in the seat of your car and then sit on it. Or get to work and realize you have on two different shoes. LOL, moments indeed!
- Collect and post the best of the best comic strips.
- The next time you go to a meeting bring… cookies, cupcakes, popcorn or pizza. Food always brings smiles. As well as reduces anxiety and tension in awkward situations.
- Set up a HUMOR BULLETIN BOARD. NEWSFLASH!! “How to lose 10lbs a week eating chocolates” “What would Lucy and Ethal do?” “Attention, changing the toilet paper roll does not cause brain damage.” and so on… I’m sure you can muster up plenty of laughs.
- And most importantly: Hang out with others who make you laugh. Be sensitive with whom you spend your time with and just be yourself. The laughs and smiles will flow from your belly and you will have improved your Laugh – Life.
